This weekend I’ve been indulging in a bit of decadence…shopping in my closet! Yep, it’s surprising what you can find in there…clothes that haven’t seen the light of day for eons but you’ve been holding on to them in the hopes that they might fit again some day. Can you relate? Well, that exciting moment has arrived for me recently; let the celebration begin!!
Have you ever noticed how most of us end up putting on a few pounds each year and don’t really become aware of it until we try on something from a past season only to notice that it feels snug? Perhaps it shrunk at the drycleaners? Ha! Ever experienced that?
Well, I sure have! And if you’ve been searching for a solution, I’ve got some great news! I’ve been honing a new “system” and making it turnkey so I can share it with all of you. Had to test it on myself first to be sure it would work. The key is for it to be fun, effortless, effective and lasting, right? Anyone interested in fitting into their skinny jeans? If so, try these three tips on for size… (ouch! sorry for the pun!):
1. See yourself as slender, healthy, fit and toned. Really feeeeeel it! Imagine it. Totally believe it. Keep going until it feels REAL. Our mind is a super-powerful tool when used properly. We just need to change our beliefs to ones that serve us.
2. Set up an accountability system. Get support by teaming up with a like-minded friend, get a system in place or hire a coach. The key to being successful is to be consistent, and c’mon, let’s be honest here; most of us are not self-motivated enough, so we need some gentle (or not so gentle) nudges.
3. Choose the right fuels to erase cravings and speed up metabolism. Make sure your body is getting what it needs, so it can do the job it is supposed to do. Your body should be burning efficiently 24/7 and you shouldn’t have to “diet”. I’ve been eating what I want; craving-free and full of energy! Healthy weight loss doesn’t have to be difficult.
This week, I challenge you to reclaim your rockin’ body. Consider what steps you can take to support yourself and then implement them! What’s holding you back?
Are you ready to slip into your skinny jeans? What would you like to be doing differently? How will you accomplish that? Can’t wait to hear! Please share your thoughts below or email me at ellen@yourtransformationcoach.com.

I love shopping my closet. I am a bit of a pack rat, and it’s always cool to find something that I had forgotten about, lurking in the back somewhere. As for those skinny jeans, as long as I don’t overdo the desserts, I seem to be able to squeeze into them. Although the “my clothes shrunk in the off season syndrome” definitely applies in my house too!
Donna, so excited you are fitting into your skinny jeans! Woohoo!
I love finding surprises in my closet! Lost some weight prior to surgery and losing more in recovery so expect more surprises. Will remember your tips as appetite kicks back in – I’l need them more than ever.
Isn’t it fun? I’ve been having a blast! Congrats on your weight loss…and wishing you a smooth recovery!
Ellen, First thank you for saying what my Dad always used to say, cause I got a good chuckle… “shopping again? Just go look in your closet, I’m sure it’s already in there!” Ha, and you know, he was right! Now for not fitting into some of those jeans, slacks, and dresses I do so want to wear… I eat healthy enough, and agree about “dieting” but surely don’t exercise enough… so what can you recommend when it’s in the 90s and 100 like the past few days… (a week actually)…
LOL! You are most welcome! I agree, it can be a challenge to get motivated in hot weather… Some options are to train early in the morning and to be sure you hydrate well. You can also train in a gym or at home in the air conditioning. Making it non-negotiable (which I do) is key. I train (and enjoy every minute!) no matter what the weather-it’s all in the mindset!
I’ve been having more green smoothies over the past year. They’re super filling, and so much good stuff in there!
Love green smoothies-yummy and great for detoxing the body while fueling it with super nutrition! And the best news is that a clean system burns more efficiently (read: faster metabolism!).
I reclaim my rockin’ body!! This post could not have come at a better time for me – I’m going to post pics and get back to where I want to be! Thanks Ellen!

Dorethia, so excited for you! Please let me know how I can support you!
A few years back my clothes were getting mysteriously snug, and lots of my jeans sat unworn in my closet — no shopping there for me! Then one day I caught an accidental glimpse of my backside in a store window when I was on vacation. I didn’t recognize that chubby person for a moment!! BOY what a wakeup call, and soooo motivating. That very afternoon I started refusing desserts, eliminating snacks, and leaving (at least) one bite on my plate at the end of every meal. The pounds started melting away until I was finally able to shop in my closet again. What a great feeling!! Thanks for the reminder

How fun, Ann! Isn’t it interesting that when we start eating like a thin person, we start looking like one! Congrats!
This is such a good reminder that the first step is to believe it’s possible. It’s also a good reminder to be more mindful, and not just pack on the pounds aimlessly!
Caroline:
Exactly! So many of us get busy and don’t realize what has happened until our clothes are a bit snug. Expecting the best will bring us just that! Thanks for stopping by!
